(Note from the author: my maternal grandfather)
Life path (from stories of my aunt and my own memories):
School in Neuzeug; apprenticeship as a blacksmith and die setter at the Letten factory, completing it successfully.
In 1920, when the Letten factory closed, he joined the military (cavalry). He was stationed in Enns and had an illegitimate child there (Hedwig).
There he also met Rosina HIESBÖCK, his future wife. Only after the birth of their daughter Ernestine did they marry. After the wedding, the family moved to Hinterstoder where he worked at the post office as a mail carrier. From this time also comes the friendship with the Rosenegger family in Hinterstoder.
In 1940, he went into the Second World War; during the Russian campaign he became a sergeant. Later, he was a prisoner of war in Tabor — but returned already in 1945 due to a lung disease. He walked to the demarcation line in Enns and stayed with his in-laws. Only later was he able to return to his wife and child.
He moved back to Steyr, became a postal officer, and worked at the main post office in Steyr at Stadtplatz. He first lived with his family on Preuenhueberstraße, then until his death at Stepp-Stöger-Straße 9. He died in Steyr hospital of heart failure, a consequence of the recurring lung disease; at that time, he also had early-stage lung cancer.

Comment:
The word "gefallen" in the birth book here probably means residing or living there, not "killed in war".
The baptism was only on 1 May 1904, so I assume he was only entered in the birth book then, hence the incorrect chronological order in the birth book!
