Comment:
The spelling of the name, whether Kostržicza or Kastržicza, can no longer be determined. In relevant internet forums, „Ko“ was recommended to me.
However, other spellings also appear in the Ahnenpass itself: Ahnenpass No. 50 Joannes Kastržicza, his father Sebastian appears at No. 50 as Kostřicza. At the marriage entry on No. 50/51 Joannes is called Kostržitza. At No. 25 Marianna Kostržiczin or Kastržiczin, father at No. 25 Johann Kostřzycza. Thus the beginning varies between Ko and Ka, and likewise the háček appears once on the z and then again on the r. The i sometimes becomes a y. Three persons, five different spellings!
The given name varies from Joannes to Johann. Joannes is a Latin form of the given name Johannes. It is a historically very widespread variant that was frequently used as a baptismal name, particularly in the 18th and 19th centuries.
I was no longer able to identify the place Lasetio im Kr. Troppau.
Kauthen is today’s „Kouty“, a district of „Kravaře ve Slezsku“ („Deutsch Krawarn“) in the Opava district.
