Avalanche Disaster in Langtaufers 1976:

A terrible avalanche disaster in the upper Langtaufers Valley claimed at least five lives on the afternoon of April 25, 1976, including Hubert Patscheider. The avalanche surprised a group of sixteen youths from Germany who had set out on a ski tour to the Weißkugelkamm with their ski instructor Hubert Patscheider.

The masses of snow swept eight people into the depths. Three of the youths were able to free themselves from the snow or were rescued by their unharmed companions. In addition to Hubert Patscheider, whose body was recovered only three days later, four other youths lost their lives.
